We bought our first Beagle in August 1995 from Norma Shipley. Teena (Filnor Velveteen) was a gorgeous little Tan and White bitch that was as mischievous as she was cute.

In talking to Norma about how naughty Teena was, she suggested we get another Beagle to keep Teena company. We bought from Norma Filnor Entertainer, who is better known as Archie.

When we realised that Archie wasn't going to be a great show dog, Norma offered us part ownership in a promising young puppy called Filnor Apollo.

We moved from our reasonable sized suburban block to 13 acres in Cornubia, about 30 minutes from Brisbane and the same from the Gold Coast.

Once we had established ourselves at Cornubia, we were given by Norma a sweet little girl by the name of Cherry Pie (Filnor Cherish). About the same time we also took on our Baby Huey, who we like to call Red (Ch. Filnor Talebearer).

We then applied for our kennel prefix - "CULORGAIR" - which in celtic roughly translates to "Hound That Follows The Scent". This was very apt for the dogs we had as they are always nose down and tail up as a good Beagle should be.

Our first litter was by Apollo out of Cherry Pie and was born on the 27th of May 2000. Cherry had 8 puppies but we unfortunately lost two during birth and one a day later. Because this was our first litter, we named them after names to do with "first". The five surviving pups were Introduction, Numero Uno, Overture, Alpha and Genesis.

Cherry Pie had our second litter on the 17th of July 2001 to Ch. Goldenbelle Quaestor. She had complications during and after birth and developed Black Mastitis which almost killed Cherry. Thankfully she pulled through and had six lovely puppies. Because we almost lost Cherry, we decided to name the puppies after her and called them desert names. The six puppies were Bomberlaska, Sherry Trifle, Mud Cake, Cup Cake, Sundae, and Plum Pudding.

In 2002 we tried only one litter and mated Shimmy to Ch. Filnor Torchbearer. Only one pup was conceived and unfortunately died during birth. This, along with the problems we had with our first two litters was heartbreaking for us and almost made us give it away. But we talked to our friends who convinced us to keep at it.

Our fourth litter was in 2003 and again was out of Shimmy, this time to Red. Again, Shimmy only conceived one pup but this time we were lucky that it survived and was name Culorgair Lone Wolf.

Two months later, Brandy (Culorgair Sherry trifle) had a litter of seven by Ch. Filnor Feeldsman. This litter had an alcohol theme and were named Bundy Bear, Heres To It, Irish Cream, Sheridan, Suthencomfort, Tia Maria and Wild Turkey.

In 2004 we had two litters. Shimmy gave birth to a litter of six by Ch. Filnor Chimaera. They were Moon River, Moonbeam, Moondancer (Disco), Moon Raker and Moon Shade, with one dying at birth. The second litter was out of Brandy (Culorgair Sherry Trifle) by Ch. Ceugant Dillan. They are named after their father, Finn, and the six from the litter are Affinity, Finesse, Finnigan, Finn McCool, Huck Finn and Tim Finn.

Since then we have been fairly productive in litters and have had many dogs in the show ring. We always make sure that the prioroty on our puppies, however, is that they have a loving and enjoyable first few months in the world, which we believe contributes to the nature that our beagles appear to display.
